Feeling Bipolar

So I have this problem. I, like everybody, have my moments of feeling sorry for myself. I start to think about those things like, I live so far away from my family and how much I wish I were closer to them, and how it would be ideal for me to have my master's degree already, why I got rejected from grad school, why my husband doesn't want to go to school right now, why I don't have a big beautiful house, etc. Basically I just pick apart my life like most people.

But then I think about what our church teaches, to count your many blessings. So that is what I start to do. I start to think, well I'm very happily married with a husband that does most of the laundry and most of the dishes (what wife wouldn't love that?), my hubby and I are both employed and making enough money to help us save for a house, I was able to earn my bachelor's degree in a time of a troubled American economy, we're having a baby which I've wanted for about a year, and many other wonderful things in my life. Then I think, see Katie? You have such a great life, with so many wonderful things happening, why are you so down about silly little things that don't matter?

So with this, I start to feel a little bit more cheered up and grateful for my blessings. But for how long? Not too long usually. I usually go back and forth for a while before I get busy and finally settle on a feeling (usually the sappy one). So what do you all do when you're struggling with your emotional consistency? This makes me feel as though I need lots of counseling and medication, instead of really making me feel better and more grateful. Maybe its just me? Maybe everyone has their moments? I dont really know, but I don't really like it! ;)
