15 weeks 5 days
What everyone has been asking for. And by everyone, I mean 3 people! A non-sucking-in-letting-it-all-hang-out photo. I was picky with the type of clothing that I felt would best flatter me.

The root of my laziness
I've always had discomfort in my feet. Even as a "perfect-bodied" teenager. Very few shoes actually feel comfortable for me after long periods of time. I virtually, can't wear heels at all anymore. I miss them. I ALWAYS have to buy the gel inserts for all types of shoes I wear. And those can get pricy and only work for so long.
It wasn't until the last 3-4 years that I've noticed my legs have been bothering me too. For example, when I stand in a solitary position for more than a minute or two, my legs would become a blotchy purple/red color and they would itch extremely bad until I either walk around for a moment, or sit down and elevate my feet. Even after washing my face and brushing my teeth every night I'm hurting to sit. I've always known what the problem is, but I was in denial. I'm too young for varicose veins! This is what varicose veins are:
Basically, the little valves that keep the blood from pooling into your legs and feet while you stand don't work, for whatever reason. My mother and her mother both have these, and I'm sure it goes back generations (and will continue for generations).
I guess it's not that big of a deal right? Elevate your legs, keep them moving and refrain from too much standing. Well that all sounds great and dandy, but that's not always possible or practical. I feel like I can't even stand and talk with someone for more than a minute without constantly having to shake my feet. Not to mention I've had knee problems since my high school sports days. And even then, I was always the slow one in sports because I felt like my body below my hips were soooo heavy, like I was running with weights strapped to my legs.
So all of this results in one dangerous bad habit: LAZINESS.
My family would always tease me because I was always so lazy. I HATED doing the dishes growing up and I still HATE doing the dishes now, maybe even more so. But maybe this was just the beginning of the leg pain I constantly have? I can rarely start a project, chore, or hobby without having to sit down after just a few minutes. And once I sit down, guess what? You got it! I don't want to get up again! Errrr. It's so frustrating. I have all these plans to be a great mom and to take care of my house and my kids and do lots of fun activities. But how on earth will I break this horrible habit?
Will my legs and feet always ache? How do I get out of the horrible cycle of laziness without feeling like I'm using all of my much energy just to move? It makes me not want to do anything, because my energy is zapped by the end of the event. Maybe I need better shoes? Socks? Who knows. I have a feeling it'll get worse with each pregnancy, so I need to find a way out of this horrendous cycle now before I get even lazier and the inevitable outcome of becoming REALLY FAT! ;)

Emergency room trip
I was kind of hesitant to post anything about this on my blog, but I quickly decided that blogs are NOT just for exciting events, but also for difficult events.
It all started yesterday, Saturday. I went to Disneyland with my sis in law last night. We spent 3-4 solid fun hours fighting the crowds and going on a couple of fun rides. I felt fine after our fun evening, except for the typical feet aches that I always have after a Disneyland trip.
Well I woke up this morning so totally exhausted that I decided to just take it easy and stay home from church. I have a calling but I teach every other week and it was my week off today. Even though I really wanted to go I felt like I needed to rest. It's a good thing I felt impressed to stay home!
Shortly after the morning had begun I had started bleeding. And this was not little spotting, it was a pretty heavy flow. I am 15 weeks pregnant tomorrow and I IMMEDIATELY started to worry and panic . I started bawling and I thought to myself, "this can't be happening, I'm too far along, I don't know if I can go through this, I'm not strong enough, I wanted this baby sooo bad," etc. etc.
Well without even thinking, we got dressed and headed out the door to the emergency room. Once we got there they were able to see us almost immediately (which is contrary to everything I've ever heard about emergency room visits). They took me back, asked me tons of questions, and did a pelvic exam. Still bleeding, they took me straight back to get an ultrasound. And on the screen I see my beautiful baby with a strong heartbeat (insert sigh of relief here). It was so scary waiting to know if my baby had a heartbeat or not, or if I was miscarrying. So that was a huuuuge relief (and CJ was able to see the ultrasound too, and he held my hand, I love him).
So after that we go back out to the waiting room being told we were just awaiting our official test results from everything. We checked out and just sat there. And THAT is when the dreaded "emergency room" stereotype kicked in. We sat there for about two more hours just to get our official results. Well, by that time of the day we were starting to get soooo hungry. We left the house at 11 a.m. and this was almost 3 p.m. now, having skipped lunch to get there asap.
After bothering the nurses 3 times they finally gave us some results that had come in because we told them we were just going to leave cause we couldn't wait any longer. So they told us that the baby looked healthy and strong, BUT, I do have a very low placenta right now which is why I started bleeding.
So, the doctor ordered me to a week of no heavy lifting, no long standing, no long walking, no intercourse, and basically just taking it easy. I have to see my real OB/GYN soon to see what kind of long term effects this may have on my pregnancy, but as of right now I'm feeling good even though I have some bleeding still (which is not as heavy as this morning).
I'm feeling sooo grateful that our baby is still healthy and safe. I'm also feeling hopeful that as long as I can deliver this baby full term and in healthy condition, everything else will be just fine. :) But today was definitely one of the SCARIEST days of my life!

First purchase for baby
Just a couple things to get the ball rolling. I feel like I shouldnt buy anything until I have a baby shower but I dunno if I can wait that long to start preparing! Did all you moms out there wait until the shower to buy needed items? Or did you start before the shower?

Photography
Interested in getting your family photos taken for Christmas?
My sister, Karly Michelsen, is an EXCELLENT photographer who will be down in California the week before Thanksgiving. She is offering a special for holiday shots for $100 for a full 1-2 hour session or $50 for a mini session which is around 30 minutes.
I cant really figure out how to post any of her pictures directly, but if you go and check out her blog and facebook, you'll see how talented she is! It's the perfect time to get some great, CHEAP family portraits for the holidays.
