Utah bound!

After begging Cj for about 5 years to move to Utah to be near my family, he's finally agreed to it! I know he doesn't want to because his entire family lives here in California (except for his late mother and step father who moved to Utah about 3 years ago).

I'm so grateful he's agreed to go for my sake. It's been hard the last few years to be away from my family. I didn't realize how much I loved and needed my family until they were gone. I remember growing up and complaining to my dad that I didn't have any friends and he said, "the only friends you need are your family." such wise words because when all is said and done, it's your family that you're always returning to.

I've especially felt the need to go more in the last 6 months for a few reasons. 1) Since I've had Liam I feel like I need my mom and sisters more than ever. And 2) CJ has decided that he doesn't believe in the (LDS) church anymore. So basically I will be raising my kids in the church alone. And while I love him and wouldn't leave him, he understands that I need that spiritual support from my family more than ever. And given that (basically) his entire family is inactive, I don't have the support here that I desperately need. I'm grateful that he sees that and is willing to take such drastic measures to make me happy.

We'll be staying with his stepdad in mt. Pleasant until we can find a job and our own place up near Ogden area. We've been applying for jobs non stop for a few months and have had no bites but I have faith that once we get up there things will work out. Cj is also planning on taking some exams to get his A+ certification when we get up there. Which is basically specific certifications to prove that you know computers and are smart enough to work on them. Which he definitely is! But this will make him more desirable in the job market.

But he doesn't wanna do computers forever. He eventually wants to start his own business doing wood working and metal casting. It'll probably be a while, but I know he can do it! He's extremely talented and just needs space to really get going with experience and expertise in the field.

Anyway, there ya have it! We're moving on the 31st. Wish us luck and pray for us if you can! We're going on an adventure. :)

Disneyland adventures

My Disneyland pass just expired on June 30th. Last year when I bought the pass, I got pregnant like 2 weeks later. So of course I went but couldn't go on any of the big rides. And the bigger I got the less I went (especially since I was on pelvic rest for my placenta previa for many months). So I made up my mind that as soon as I had the baby, I was gonna at least go a few times and get more of my money's worth since I got the most expensive pass, and hit the big rides. I NEVER would have guessed that I would have taken Liam to Disneyland EIGHT times before he turned 3 months old! His first visit he was only 3.5 weeks old. :) People were ALWAYS talking to me about my tiny baby, I'm pretty sure they all thought I was crazy for doing it. One lady even said, "no offense but, aren't you afraid of germs?" Nope, I wasn't, the benefit of breastfeeding! Although some days as I was driving down I'd think to myself "I'm so tired, what am I thinking going to Disneyland with my newborn?" But I trucked on and looking back, I don't regret it! I had a blast and it was a great way to end my pass. Liam was great pretty much every time we went. I wasn't super great at getting photos while at Disneyland, but here are some from just Liam's adventures.

3 months old!

Here are some updates on our big boy!

At 6 weeks old he started smiling.

At 13 weeks old he started laughing (although it's still tricky to get a really solid laugh).

He can hold his head up to about a 75• angle.

He's holding his head up (while doing tummy time) for longer and longer without crying.

He has officially started drooling! Which means he's probably starting to teethe (fun stuff).

He is ALMOST sleeping through the night. He goes to sleep at in his own bed 8:30 pm and sleeps until about 3-4 am then gets fussy and just wants to cuddle with mommy. So I bring him into bed with me and I'll either put him back into his bed after he's asleep or I just let him sleep with me for a few more hours, then I usually put him back to bed at around 6 or 7 am then he sleeps until about 9:30 am. I was starting to get frustrated because I want him to sleep completely but then I decided to enjoy the cuddles for as long as he's willing to give them! I know it won't last forever.

He's eating more at once and going farther in between feedings, which mommy loves!

He takes a late morning nap, early after nap, late afternoon nap, and an evening nap. But these naps usually don't last longer than an hour.

His hair has completely fallen out and is starting to come in as a blondish reddish color, but it's still so short it's hard to tell. Mommy hates waiting!

He's starting to really ENJOY batting at toys and smiling at them. He's getting more aware and interactive by the day! It's so fun. :)

He looks mainly like a Stefan but occasionally looks like his daddy with certain looks (people say he looks more like CJ when he's crying. Lol.)

I was supposed to take him to get his 2-month checkup and shots but there was a mix up with our insurance so we've had to wait until this month, do I'll update his height, weight, etc. when we go in on July 19th. I can't wait to see how much he's grown!!

And finally, he's not a NEWBORN anymore, but an infant. This makes me soooooo sad but happy that's he's growing nicely. I'm trying to enjoy every single day with my baby!

Enjoy some new pictures, they're all out of order because my blogger app is dumb like that. :)

Death

CJ and I were talking about death last night. Not in a sad depressing way, but just a matter of fact way. Since his mom recently passed away we've both been thinking about it a lot lately.

Once we started talking about his mom I started crying a little bit. I apologized to him for always crying and having a challenging time with her passing because I miss her. I mentioned to CJ that I don't handle death too easily because I have been fortunate enough to not have much death in my life. Unlike me, he has had quite a bit of death in his life. Well he continued to say that he thinks IM the unfortunate person because I haven't had much death in my life and that he is more fortunate because he's been able to experience it and learn from it.

What do you think? Is it a good thing or bad thing for a person to experience lots of death? I think Cj is a little jaded while I may be a little naïve to death. What's your opinion?

P.S. this post isn't a depressing one but I had to add "death's" picture on there for the sake of humor. Ha. Ha.

5 year anniversary

On June 1st we celebrated our 5-year wedding anniversary. Honestly, I still can't believe it's been 5 years. Some days it feels like we've been together forever and some days I feel like we're still newlyweds. Either way, we have both come such a long way and I'd be lying if I said we didn't have a great marriage. Sure, it's not perfect. But we respect each other and have great communication skills (for the most part). ;)

Usually I like to go outta town and celebrate our anniversary with a mini vacation. Our past anniversary vacations have included Catalina island, orange county, San Diego, and northern California (our favorite by far). Of course we couldn't go outta town this year because Liam was only 8 weeks old so we decided to go to a very fancy dinner instead. So we (and when I say we, I mean I) decided to go to Clearman's Steak n' Stein in Pico Rivera because I LOVE steak and hardly get to eat it because red meat usually makes Cj sick. We dropped Liam off at Cj's sisters and off we went! I ordered, of course, the prime rib! I was going all out for this special occasion and not holding back. Cj ordered the halibut. Here are some pictures as evidence that we went out and spent $100 on one dinner! The food was sooo delicious and totally worth it to me. :)

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY HONEY! I love you soo much!

Joleen Marie Orr

I've been working myself up to make this blog post. Then I realized it was holding up a few other posts I've wanted to do (since I like to be as chronological as possible) so I've decided to bite the bullet and do it. Not because I didn't want to, but because I'm still grieving over the loss of my beautiful mother in law.

On December 23, 2011 Joleen was diagnosed with AML Leukemia. I cant remember the exact details but I know it was very aggressive. So aggressive that the doctors said had they not caught it, she likely would have passed within 2-3 weeks. Well she did some chemotherapy but still passed away just 5 months later on May 2nd 2012. The funeral was held in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, where she and her husband Jay Orr, lived. She was buried at the Manti cemetary, overlooking the Manti LDS temple where she worked as a temple worker for the last few years. The services were wonderful and it was a perfect way to celebrate such a wonderful woman. Here are a few pictures for you to enjoy:
